so totally off topic...but i just had one wisdom tooth extracted, part of a root canal, and a filling done yesterday - all on my right upper side. on top of that, i got a deep cleaning done as well, so, of course my mouth is a bit sore. i've eaten frosties and apple sauce since i've gotten home yesterday, and some baked yams today.

i need some food recomendations! i'm getting sick of soft food already and i'm STARVING (i'm craving meat! and burgers! and pita chips!) anything that is filling, savory, tasty..i welcome all suggestions.

alright, back to all y'all's prevet madness 🙄

Oh goodness. I remember going through the same thing when I got 3 wisdom teeth out. Two of my friends got theirs out like the same day and one of them was eating pizza and chips by the next day. I was so angry and jealous. I don't really have any recommendations but I remember getting really frustrated and craving crunchier foods. I think I ate a lot of pudding and scrambled eggs.

yeah i'm really p*ssed off right now and frustrated -- my stomach is growling and nothing is filling enough. scrambled eggs kinda sound good though maybe with a little bit of ketchup and tobasco sauce 🙄

Ugh- I remember this experience. What about mashed potatoes? I ate a lot of jello, but that's not very tasty.

mmm cheesy mashed potatoes and ice cream 😀

Twice baked potatoes. My husband had his wisdom teeth out earlier this year and that's ALL he wanted to eat after a day or two because it was filling and savory and he was sick of yogurt, ice cream, and Carnation instant breakfast.

I jazzed them up with cheese, sour cream, butter, and a little bit of bacon fat. Yes, gross as hell, I know - but we keep it in the fridge to fry potatoes when we're feeling especially unhealthy, and he said it gave the twice baked potatoes an amazing flavor.

I got all four out a couple years ago. Not a fun experience. Besides jello and yogurt, I ate cottage cheese with pepper on top, chicken noodle soup (as long as I was careful that it went straight down), string cheese, and lots of smoothies. I wish you a speedy recovery!

Mac n cheese

boil chicken, then pull it (like pulled pork) make it really fine and toss in some mayo: a chicken salad of sorts

creamed soups

spaghetti without the meat

Feel better soon!

I remember eating copious amounts of mac and cheese with finely broken up ground beef, and rice with various small pieces of meat in it (my favorite was to make "tacos" without the shell and dump all the mixings over mexican rice).

Mac and cheese and mashed potatoes for sure. Pumpkin soup, baked winter squash.

my mom just surprised me with some chocolate pudding, marie callender mac and cheese, and some hawaiian bread rolls 🙂 she's awesome 😍

I was also going to recommend mashed poatotos. My favorite. Hope your mouth feels better soon! I had all four of my wisdom teeth out at once...it took around 6 weeks to be able to open my mouth up all the way again.

Awwww. My mom made me eggs when I got home. The worst part is that everything tastes like gauze :d I recall eating a lot of ice pops and water since that's all I could stomach cause of the STUPID painkillers they gave me😡 I found out after the fact that I should've just taken OFC stuff.🙄 Hang in there, sunnex3. I had all 4 taken out - they were impacted and coming outward (my dentist originally told me I didn't have them...:bang:)

GROSS STORY: I tried to be efficient that day and schedule an eye appt as well (this was my fall break last year). I ate eggs that my mom made. after, while I was at the eye dr (which is located in the mall), I started feeling super nauseated. didn't even make it into the stall before I threw up....on my shoes. *sob*

I was originally told I didn't have them either...nope. I had three..

I had all 4 taken out for the same reason as you...however, my dentist knew they were there.

Prior to that I had 3 surgeries to correct another problem with some deciduous teeth...yes it took 3 tries by the oral surgeon to get it right...and the third one worked because my orthodontist went in and advised him :bang:.

Prior to that, I had to have 5 deciduous teeth pulled before I could get my braces because my mouth apparently developed much slower than the rest of the world.

During all of these situations, I ate the following:

a lot of KFC mashed potatoes, mainly because they're delicious and filling. pudding
chicken noodle soup (but didn't eat the chicken)
ice cream

If you're doing mac and cheese, and you're into tuna (since I know quite a few people who can't stand canned tuna), I often add canned tuna and peas to mac and cheese--protein and a veggie. Not sure how that would go down for you, since I've never had wisdom teeth out, but it seems about the same consistency as other things on here.

The one time I had oral surgery, I tried split pea soup that night, except my mouth was still rather numbed up. Didn't work out too well. Still can't eat split pea soup.

Tuna + mac 'n cheese + peas = heaven. My stupid (but very, very, smart and loving and yadda, yadda) husband doesn't think that a meal combined from things that come in boxes and cans can be considered a meal, but I LOVE this combo. I actually eat it whenever he's away for the weekend!

Well, technically, it comes from a box, a can, and a bag! 😛
But, really, there's like every food group there. And it's so good!

When I was a kid, my mom would scoop some into an ice cream cone (the cake cone flat bottomed kind) for me. That may be less normal. And probably not as good post-wisdom tooth extraction.

soopr, you may have just suggested one of other meal that I am capable of making. Second to Kraft mac and cheese (not EZ Mac....)🙄

Dat's what I thought!

I'm sorry, but the visual set me off into silent giggles. I sowwie 😳

Sympathies. My opinion of my dentist is fairly unfavorable. He's a bit of an old-schooler. He put on my braces but prior to the actual application, he had me wear a mouth monstrosity that stretched things out and left me incapable of eating for almost 2 weeks (yes, I almost starved....and then they wonder how I ended up with bad eating habits...). Then upon removing my braces, he removed the wires that supported the teeth and my lower jaw reverted to the bad mess. So, recently, I got an Invis-align of sorts. I wear double retainers as I sleep 😴 Usually, I fall asleep before I put said retainers in.

[This is also why I wear contacts 24/7 and my glasses are beyond repair. But that's for another thread...]

I saw these chard rolls recently rolls recently... sweet potatoes, feta and caramelized onions inside. I've never had any major dental surgery done, but if you can eat mac & cheese I can't imagine you couldn't mouth them. (recipe) Might not be your cup of tea though.

My dentist and I have been watching and waiting over the last few years as my wisdom teeth slowly shark their way up, so this thread may be sadly relevant for me in the upcoming months.

to sum up what i ate today:
hawaiian bread rolls
mashed potatoes with gravy from popeyes (my favorite of the food i ate today!) 😍
mac and cheese (the microwave kind from marie callender)
oven baked yams
chocolate pudding
apple sauce
strawberry milkshake from mcdonald's :biglove:

this soft diet thing is getting old real fast though. not sure if i can survive on it past tomorrow 🙁 but i got a lot of work done on my right side so i don't know when i can eat normally again! i'm so sad right now

Be patient & go slow. The last thing you want to end up with is dry sockets or infections.

Ya'll are gonna hate me. I had all 4 of mine removed at once (impacted), and went out the same night. Granted, didn't do much but hang out w/ my boyfriend at the time but I still went out. I owe it all to a superb oral surgeon.

My son had his out last year & he didn't fare as well. Lots of pain & swelling the first 2 days, didn't want to eat, etc. My Mom is the creative one when it comes to food prep, she was usually able to get him to eat something every day.

Hang in there!

I had all 4 of mine out... the Monday before Thanksgiving a few years ago. That was a pain. After a few days my dad would just chop up food (ie. turkey) really fine and I'd just chew with my incisors. Be gentle though!

oh i know to go slow...i only got one wisdom tooth taken out but it's pretty sore on that side right now (not too much swelling though). the worst thing thing though is that the corner of my mouth is all cracked and nasty from keeping my mouth open so long! it hurts like crazy and makes me look like i'm really sick 🙁

for breakfast i'm thinking strawberry milkshake left over from last night and some apple sauce :biglove:

i would like to avoid dry sockets at all costs! i've been rinsing with salt water and taking my abx to prevent infection -- hope that will be enough :xf:

You also better be drinking that milkshake with a spoon and not a straw. No sucking allowed!

anyone know if caffeine is OK?

i miss my starbucks/mcdonalds coffee 🙁

My dentist wants all of mine removed. Why? Because my teeth are growing in where the tissue is soft and I might get an infection. They must get a bonus every time they refer someone to the oral surgeon. To make matters worse, they harass me about it every time I go in. They have been doing this for 9 years now. The last time I went to the dentist, I told the hygienist why I could not get my teeth removed to avoid a lecture (I am only home during the holidays because of school, the oral surgeon only comes to my town once a month, so unless the surgeon wants to operate on Christmas eve or Easter Monday, I am not getting them out) and, at the end of my appointment, the hygienist (in a sugary sweet voice) said "Well, if you THINK you are going to be home when the oral surgeon is around, please get your mother to let us know so we can get those teeth removed. It is better to do it when you are young!" That was the first time I wanted to slap somebody in the public service sector.

One time, the dentist tried to schedule me to have them taken out WITHOUT A CONSULT.

:bang:

They are going to have to pry these things out of my cold dead head if they want them that badly.

Now I'm hungry! 😀

LOL... I'm one of those that you would hate... I had all 4 out and was eating sushi the same night hahahaha... sorry you are so sore 🙁 did you try eating on the opposite side of all your work??? What about an omelette?? biscuits and gravy?

I had Mac and cheese an hour after getting all 4 out. And pizza that night. Didn't take a single pain pill. It sure sucked to be on antibiotics for new years though.

Oh yeah! My ex had the same thing... he was literally in bed for a week eating nothing but chicken soup and choking down pain meds... lol... (men are just babies 😉 hehehe... j/k j/k)

totally missed this thread! glad you posted in the RANT section so i could recommend delicious savory salty yummy beef!

Anyhow, Penny sends her sympathies-she had her top incisors removed today and while she is happy to eat more freely and painlessly, she can only eat it if she can get the food from in front of her face to her molars without being made into a bite between the two (i.e. mommy is now finely chopping all veggies)
