I'm curious if anyone knows any programs that are under 55k out of state/private? I'm trying to come up with colleges to add to my list, but most seem to be 60k+? I believe Milligan in TN is around 52k, but that's all I have. Thanks!

Edit-Milligan is around 58k. I must have done the math wrong. 🙂

Hey! I'll be attending Milligan in the fall and the rate is $710 per credit hour which puts the price still competitive at $57k. Also, any school you go to remember to factor in expenses for your research capstone project and your field work. There's always limited spots locally, so be prepared for living elsewhere while still covering your rent for a few weeks to a few months. Stash a good chunk for after graduation to buy prep tests and books, $500 test, and $30 ish per potential employer to send your scores to. Also, this is all so worth it. Promise 😉

Thanks! For some reason I thought it was lower...maybe I'm thinking of somewhere else. Are you from TN? Right now my top choice is University of Southern Maine because it's my cheapest option because of regional tuition. It looks to be 48-52k for me, so still not exactly a steal.

try sage college in troy ny, i think they might be around that price.

Winston Salem State University. I am out of state and it's around $50,000, maybe even a bit less.

Actually, you probably did the math right. They just raised the rate a little a couple weeks ago and all their web pages haven't been updated to reflect the new rate yet. Also, I do live in TN *but* Milligan is a private school so, tuition is the same for everyone; no in-state, out-of-state tuition.

I know, I was just wondering how you liked it there (I'm from New England so I'm not sure I could handle the heat!) if you visited. I'm thinking of applying to relatively expensive places and just getting public service loan forgiveness (but not the crazy expensive places like NYU/USC!) I feel like I'm not going to get in anywhere cheap that isn't a long program/prereqs I can't squeeze in this year.

Alvernia is $700 a credit. Salus is $810 a credit, but has fewer credit hours than most programs. Both of them will put you around $52,000.

I LOVE it here! Milligan has all four seasons, some good local food, fantastic hiking, camping, and lake fun, and nearby Asheville is great to escape to on the weekends. The staff is super friendly and supportive, they even invite students into their own homes on holidays when students from out of town can't make it home. Also, sidenote, I think the loan forgiveness was ok, but you don't qualify until after 10 years of consecutive payments....but double check that!
