General Admissions & OTCAS OTCAS problems...delayed verification

I am beyond frustrated with OTCAS.

After meeting with my first choice school I was advised to apply early and did, back in the end of August (application, transcripts, and reccomendations). I finished up one of my pre-reqs this fall and went into the application to do the academic update. I noticed that my status was listed as "verifying" with a yellow bar. I contacted customer service and on Christmas Eve finally received an email from them. It stated that I was verified and I also received a supplemental application from one of my schools!

I called all the schools I applied to and some of them have gotten back to me confirming that they are JUST getting my application now... 4 MONTHS LATER. Some of these schools have been interviewing for months, some already have acceptances and others are off for winter break.

I've been going back and forth with OTCAS and while they admitted it should only take 4 weeks to verify applications they seem to be taking no responsibility for the fact that they may have jeopardized my acceptance for 2016. I'm beside myself....any suggestions!? Has this happened to anyone else?!

A lot of people apply after the fall semester once grades are in, so you might not be as behind as you think. Perhaps you could request refunds on program fees from them that were too late due to their error? Other than that, I'd say try to apply to schools with later deadlines.

I applied in November, and had OTCAS comnected to my email (which is connected to my phone), so I got the email as soon as it got verified. It doesn’t help you now, sadly, but if it happens to someone else, I wouldn't wait for more than a month to receive the email before contacting them.
