I found this while i was bored today.
http://www.pharmacytimes.com/files/PTOTC2005.pdf

it says its the top pharmacist recommended OTCs.

What do you all think?

I personally am definitely in favor of generics if at all possible. i do know people who absolutely REFUSE to take APAP because its not as good as "Tylenol"

What are some of the top things you recommend?

Do you always ask all the appropriate questions prior to making the recommendation?

I always recommend Buckley's Cough medication to my patients. That's cause I hate them all. 😉

Man, thats all people ask for in my store. Im not positive where the tussin is, but i could find buckley's in my sleep. WE must be one of few store in the area that carry it becasue the people see it, freak, call all their friencs and ask if they need it, then buy enough to treat the whole town

Sounds like you might have some Dextromethorphan HBr abuse going on.
Buckley's (DM anyway) medicinal ingredients aren't really special at all, I prefer my Benelin Codeine with Codeine, Guaifenesin & pseudoephedrine. Often I'll take half a Tylenol with it. Many weak codeine preparations are OTC in this country.

No DXM abuse, just alot of people stuck in their ways. Their parents used it so it must work the best. Stuff like that. I was also told by my parmacist that its also big in the black population, which my store serves alot of. Sadly, there is not OTC codeine in NY. Youd have to drive to canada to get your tylenol #1.
