Other On-line courses

Has anyone taken other on-line courses besides nutrition? IF so, which ones and where? Thanks!

Empire State College, part of the State University of New York system.

They have a good Genetics course. They also offer Calculus online, which I haven't taken there.

I just registered for a technical writing course out of Texas Tech. I'm waiting until finals are over to get started on it though so I can't tell you much about it yet. It's a requirement for a&m and my university doesn't offer it.

Ugh. I hated that class. I took it for TX too. At my school it was required for the engineers....so it was me and like one english major and 30 engineers. We had to do proposals etc. and all of their's were "I'd like to build this bridge here" or "this reactor here." It was kind of funny because they are used to the generally public not understanding with they were talking about, but then they didn't understand any of my proposals. It was just a really boring class. I have no idea what it would be like online. Possibly a lot better or a lot worse.

Does anyone know if most vet schools do/do not accept the online genetics course, or any of the core requirements in general? I'm a little worried that some might not for courses other than An. Nutrition....

They should accept them as long as they meet the requirements, however, unless there is a good reason why you aren't taking the couse at your regular school, it will look funny.

Some admins don't care, but I know a few that do look down at "course shopping." If you must take a core course somewhere else, I wouldn't make a habit of it.

I called around a few of my schools and specifically asked. Unfortunately, I don't think I kept my post-it with the names on it. I do recall Colorado saying it was fine, because the gentleman on the phone was quite friendly and nice and said it's definitely not a problem there.

One school, I think Minnesota or Missouri, said they do not accept any online courses, but it didn't matter for me in their case, because I've already satisifed their pre-req's with other traditional classes.

Sorry, that's all I've got on who was OK with online.

I know Penn's post-bacc program used to offer an online genetics course, as well as an online immuno. class. I'm not sure whether they are still doing this or not, but they did in spring '05.
