Hey,

I'm looking into OU-HCOM's website, and I see this

"Out-of-state residents will need to sign a contract of admission."

What is a contract of admission? Does this mean we sign a paper saying if we get accepted we MUST go to that school?

No it's basically if you attend you must practice for 5 years in Ohio. This has benefits though as it can reduce debt massively.

I believe you get in-state tuition, even as an OOSer, in exchange for the commitment to practice there.

You don't get in state tuition just by singing the contract. If that was the case then no one would be paying out of state tuition.

You qualify for in-state tuition after the first year.

There is a 5-year contract for OOS students; your residency program can count toward the 5 years if it's an AOA program in Ohio. Or, there is an OOS Scholars program that waives the 5 year commitment, if you are selected for it. Or, you can even "buy out" of it after you graduate, but the cost varies by year. And yes, you get IS tuition after the first year, which saves $13k each year.

I signed it but thank my lucky stars that I got in elsewhere. I didn't get an interview anyways so I suppose it didn't matter.
