UMDNJ-SOM since you can get in-state tuition after the first year even if you are from out of state.

😱 😱 😱 😱

I would compare your rotations at each of the schools - your 1st 2 yrs will be the same no matter where you are, but the hands on experience will be what matters the most.

How's it like up in NJ? Would you rate crime rate > or < than your typical city (no correlation to Tony Soprano ofcourse)

I have a personal attachment to UMDNJ-SOM, so therefore I pick NJ. However I won't go to a school just based on $ alone. Where and how students perform after medschool is very important. I don't know about other two schools, but I would like to hear students who goes to OUCOM and TUCOM-CA.

Anybody?

Here's the TUCOM-CA plug!

-Best anatomy lab of any osteopathic school, and better than most allopathic. It's on the second floor, with windows all along one side facing the peninsula, so you get lots of nice natural light instead of fluorescence only. No smell, because the air is completely exchanged 16 times per hour.

-Match list one of the best of any osteopathic school(check out the general match list on www.tu.edu)

-Board score passing rates one of the best of any osteopathic school

-Great camraderie, non-competitive atmosphere, great students.

-Bay area weather, and right next to San Francisco/Berkeley/Napa Valley

-Best admissions director out there, bar none. I got my interview invite ONE DAY after they received my secondary, and my acceptance TWO WEEKS after the interview. No other school in the nation has turnaround like that. Heck, there are still people here that interviewed around Christmas that haven't heard anything!

here at Tony Soprano Univ School of Osteopathic medicine, just kidding.

the school itself is in a suburban area that is pretty nice. Don't have to worry too much. However we are close to Camden which for the past 2 years has beat out Detroit for most dangerous city in the U.S. We do some training 3rd and 4th year in Camden at Our Lady of Lourdes so you will see some serious stuff. I haven't heard of any students being hurt or anything though so as long as you're smart about where you go and who you're with you should be ok. We only do a couple rotations there so it's not like 2 years of our education is spent in Camden.

oh by the way, regarding an above post, I interviewed at NOVA on a Friday and found out Monday I was accepted so there are other schools that have great turnaround times and I don't think this should influence your decision of attendance.
