Ok, ...seriously...how hard is it to get into an out-of-state school? What do adcoms look for? (btw, I am only almost a sophomore in undergrad, so feel free to give your success tips) I know I am not the only one who is counting on getting into an out-of-state school. So, how does one do it??? Anything out of the ordinary that would make adcoms pick an out-of-stater?

Though you will be fighting a little bit of an uphill battle, it can be done. First, check the Predent.com for the number of out of state students your desired state schools have taken in the past. Do not waste your money on schools that take only a few students (unless you have great stats). If any of your immediate family went to another state's school, that may also help you get your foot into the door. If you have done any research, schooling in another state (e.g. summer school), that could also help you. Be selective which state schools you choose. Hope that helps.

Look at the ratio of acceptances between in state vs out of state applicants at www.predents.com

Go to the individual school websites to read their policy. Some will say that because the school is supported by that state's tax dollors they accept xyz percentage from in state.

Do your research and then make your decision on where to apply.

pfew...man, i haven't been here in like, what...a month...lemme tell ya...

ok, i forgot what i was gonna say...sorry for flooding...oh, remembered...about the ratio of predents....i dunno if that's an accurate representation...though a great resource, always remember that you should strive to be more than a statistic! you are an individual, so scr3w what USUALLY happens. go for the best! yeah!

ok maybe i went a bit overboard...anyway, good luck everyone.
