Outpatient book

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
That is what I was wondering.
Whatever you want. War and Peace is my suggestion, although The Dubliners is also interesting.

Wow, outpatient medicine. . . I'll assume you mean primary care (a mix of internal medicine, FP, and Peds). I've never found a single book that was really good for the outpatient side of things. The articles in American Family Physician often have an outpatient focus and are easy to read. Also finding clinical guidelines for preventive care and those minor acute issues are good places to start.

What should you read on an oupatient block? Nothing.

Outpatient blocks are a gift from the residency fairy. Since you got hosed and have this one first (instead of in February when you'll probably be thinking about jumping off the roof of your hospital if you have to admit one more damn COPD exacerbation), you should make the most of it and slack as much as humanly possible...it's your last chance.

If you can somehow register for and take Step 3 before the end of the block then perhaps you should read a little (very little) for that, otherwise I recommend, The New Yorker, Maxim, Vogue, Weekly World News, whatever floats your boat.

Primary Care Secrets is great IMO.
