As a further warning for how unacceptable this behavior was, all those who were present and did not object, including the anesthesiologist, are potentially liable for discipline. We are responsible for speaking up, and now even documenting that you spoke up.

While I agree that this went too far, let's be honest that most if not all of us have been privy to rampant abuse, inappropriate behavior in the OR that we just ignore. As a further warning for how unacceptable this behavior was, all those who were present and did not object, including the anesthesiologist, are potentially liable for discipline. We are all guilty for not attempting to stop some of the insane behaviors we see in the OR, not reporting it, and maybe even partaking in some of those behaviors as there are jerk anesthesiologists around as well.
Let's all be honest here.
As a Black Female Anesthesiologist in the OR, I realize my limits, pick my battles and try to ignore the rest. Doesn't end well for me when I try to intervene and stop s hit.

Hospital CEO and cardiac surgeon...Presumably head of cardiac surgery...Lots of people are really going to be inclined to challenge openly publicly in real time. .
He just graduated fellowship. Know what he’s head of anything.Hospital CEO and cardiac surgeon...Presumably head of cardiac surgery...Lots of people are really going to be inclined to challenge openly publicly in real time. .
But yeah, people here act like they got real balls to start a possible altercation when the reality is we all just tend do ignore.
Very bad judgment followed by overreaction.
The nurse that reported this was probably dead silent when it was happening. Speak up at the time or hold your peace.

They don’t teach you this in Nursing school. They teach you to “write people up." It’s a culture of tattle-telling.Very bad judgment followed by overreaction.

It often doesn't end well for anybody if they interfere with medical capitalism. Granted, black females usually have a smaller margin of error.
Only marginally related...there are still places where you have wine with your dinner at board/mec meetings.
Then you go to the bar after with the people on “your side” of the issues. Equally as much “real” business happens after the meeting.
Otherwise, yeah, screw all those guys, rah, rah.

You could always say, “I’m not sure that’s a good idea.”Hospital CEO and cardiac surgeon...Presumably head of cardiac surgery...Lots of people are really going to be inclined to challenge openly publicly in real time. .
You voiced your objection. They say “settle down anesthesia”. Then the objection makes it in the chart as a quick note.
“Objected to non physician executive touching/doing procedure/examining/whatever the patient. Surgeon carried on.”
Nobody looks at the anesthesia quick notes. They probably don’t even know how.
They will at trial.
That’s true. They eat their young and then steal their vacation dreams citing “seniority”. Maybe your sister can just reschedule her wedding? I’m house hunting in Boca for a nice condo that week. They don’t teach you this in Nursing school. They teach you to “write people up." It’s a culture of tattle-telling.
