Have any of you read "The Astonishing Hypothesis," by Francis Crick? I just borrowed it from a friend, who described it as a neuro-biological theory of the human soul. Sounds interesting.

I'm trying to knock down all the outside reading that I can while I can.

havent read it, though i recommend you check out The Diving Bell and the Butterfly if you havent already...really nice little book and quick read, written by someone after a terrible stroke(almost locked in)-communicated entirely by blinking his left eyelid...

Descarte's Error by Antonio Damasio, the neurologist from U Iowa. I hear it is really good. I haven't read it, but salute anyone who does...

I am currently getting through a book called Ghost Rider. I like it, but to be honest, if you don't like to travel, you may not like it since the author goes into great detail about places he visits while on some motorcycle trip.

Basic idea of the story, the author's only daughter dies in a car accident, his wife then becomes cold towards him and goes into a deep depression only to shortly thereafter discover that she has terminal cancer. After losing his entire family over the course of 10 months, the author decides the only cure for his depression is to take a greater than 55K motorcycle trip across Canada, US, Mexico, and South America. So far I am enjoying the book, although not related to neruo, does give you insight on human suffering, depression, and most importantly crisis coping skills.
