Outside scholarships for middle class white people

Hi everyone -

I am trying to find outside scholarships, but every time I go on schools' financial aid pages and look for scholarships they always seem to be for minority, immigrant, rural, primary care, low SES, and/or veteran students.

I was wondering if anyone else had been in this situation and found funding sources that don't pick based on the above factors. (P.S. I'm not complaining - happy for everyone getting scholarships - just looking for something that I might qualify for) I've spent a lot of time on schools' scholarship pages with very little luck

I had a nice outside merit scholarship in undergrad--all it did was decrease the school's own financial aid grant by that exact amount. In the end, my out-of-pocket costs were the same. I bet med schools would do the exact same thing.

Agreed. Except I’m not expecting any need based grant aid so there won’t be anything to decrease

Scholarship money is pretty tough to come by for med school. There are very few out there for even the groups you listed, let alone groups that are perceived as less in need of scholarships. I think there's a Tylenol scholarship for students going into healthcare but it's pretty competitive. Your best bet might be to look for more focused sources of funding - your high school/college alumni groups, local community foundations and service organizations (Rotary club, Kiwanis), churches/houses of worship, businesses, cultural organizations, American Legion, etc. Will more than likely just be $500 or $1000 here and there but every little bit helps.

I applied for this one, I think this company puts out several scholarships. I do not know if it matters if you are undergrad or graduate. Just figured I would share
