Over-sensitive students in the library

Most people who are doing serious studying at a library will bring ear plugs as well...If the music really was loud (although from what you stated it certainly doesn't sound like it) I can understand his frutration.

Cell phones are the biggest problem at our libraries. I hate those dumb first year girls who A) won't turn off their ringer and then B) proceed to pick up the phone and talk loudly for a few minutes before looking up and seeing that everyone is staring at them at which point they loudly say "ohoh sorry Can you hang on a minute?" as they walk out of the room. And then 10 minutes later they get another call and the drama repeats.
Oh and the worst are the texting types who think they're not annoying you because they're texting...while their phone keeps vibrating every minute (that buzzing is sooooo annoying) and then they miss a text and the damn thing starts beeping JUST TURN YOUR CELL TO SILENT!!!!

either way...if it were me...I would have apologized and turned it down a notch and maybe tell him that if it's that distracting he should bring ear plugs

Asking you to take your phone calls outside and make sure your music can't be heard by others is not asking you to bend over backwards. It's asking you to be respectful of others.

Of course there is a compromise. I don't get annoyed by people unloading their stuff, turning pages, highlighting, coughing, etc. Hearing music or constant conversation is unacceptable.
