So my school estimates that it can take up to 2 weeks if I sent my transcript in via mail, but only 3 days via overnight/Fed Ex. It also warns me that not all PO boxes accept overnight/Fed Ex deliveries. Will AMCAS accept my transcript if I go with Fed Ex?
Thanks

The two weeks shouldn't matter enough to spend the money... And my school says two weeks, too but always sends them like within two days.

You think so? How long does it take to verify transcripts, normally? I can't submit my primaries until late July anyways, so I guess I'm not in a huge hurry. (Taking MCAT late June, so those scores won't be in until late July)

If I were you, I'd go ahead and submit the transcript from your university, otherwise, you run the risk of AMCAS not accepting it, because it wasn't from your actual university if you send it via FedEx.

I'd also go ahead and submit your primary application for verification. If you submit it in early June, you can have it verified within a few days to a week. That way you won't have to worry about it taking ~6 weeks to verify during the peak application times which are during late July-Sept. And when you submit your primary, you may want to choose only one school to send it to, that way, if your MCAT score comes back as unsatisfactory, you will not be marked as a reapplicant when you apply to these schools again.

So, I should order official transcript ASAP with regular mail delivery?

So I can submit my primary as soon as the transcript is verified? What about LORs? Do I have to wait until they're all in before submitting my primary?

You need to submit your primary application (and have your transcript received) before AMCAS will begin to verify your grades. If you submit your primary and have your transcript received by AMCAS at least by the date of your MCAT, then it will get processed at about the same time (actually slightly before) your MCAT score comes back. So, no need to overnight your transcript.

LOR do not need to be received before submitting your primary.

Ok, so a rough timeline is:
1) Primary submitted - schools may choose to send me secondaries at this time
2) AMCAS verifies grades
3) MCAT scores come in - at this point my application is complete

So as soon as my MCAT scores come in and my application is considered complete, do schools begin looking through it? Do most wait until your secondaries are in, too?

Thanks so much for your help

At schools that require secondaries, you won't be reviewed for a possible interview until after you've completed the secondary. You can submit secondaries before you get your MCAT and should do this so that you're ready to review as soon as your scores get posted.

Great, thanks!
