So I recently read some (admittedly old) studies about the oversupply of pediatricians. I couldn't find any updated data. Looking at the AAMC CiM website, and looking at the number of pediatricians (and subspecialists) per 100,000 population - it's a massive increase from 10-20 years ago! How hard do you guys think it is to find a job if you want to do some teaching too? I am hoping to subspecialize in Peds Heme/Onc or Peds Critical care. Any experiences (or updated data) would be very helpful. I am thinking about either pediatrics or child psychiatry and it's probably 55-45 pediatrics for me based purely on how much I enjoy the specialty but the demand situation may make me re-assess (no problems with demand on the child psych side).
