Not sure where to post this so I'll just try here...

Does anybody know where one could find an unofficial or insider's type guide to the colleges at Oxford University? Thanks in advance for any help.

I'm not sure you're going to find one, at least not in this country. I studied abroad there last year, and I think I may have seen a friend with a book that had the history and some random facts about each college, but nothing of the Barron's equivalent. What are you looking to do there? For study abroad and graduate school it doesn't matter too much where you go except for location and food quality, though some do have subject restrictions. Of course there is an air of superiority (and wealth) among colleges like Balliol, Merton, and Christ Church, but if you're only there for a short time, it won't matter much where you go.

Why is my avatar getting so popular? O.K., so it's not MY avatar; still, until the last couple of weeks, I've been the only active user with the turkey.

😀 It seemed appropriate.

Here's what I remember:

St. John: Rich school with huge dorms
Magdalen: The Harvard of Oxford...kinda stuck up
St. Catherine's (St. Catz): The common man's oxford college...most chill

sorry...don't remember the rest.

Thanks all for the helpful replies. Much appreciated.
