The body employs several mechanisms to deliver oxygen (hemoglobin, myoglobin, etc) and prevent cellular oxidative stress and damage (via superoxide dismutase). Given that the exterior of the eye receives most of the oxygen from the outside environment; what prevents oxidative stress to the eye?
