In my notes I have PCC carries out the same action as CrO3/HCl (primary alcohols to aldehydes, and secondary alcohols to ketones). Does this sound right?
Also, Na2Cr2O7, H2CrO4/H2SO4, or K2Cr2O7/H2SO4, or CrO3/H2SO4 are the strongest oxidizing agents (i.e., primary alcohols and aldehydes ------> carboxy acids, and secondary alcohols ------> ketones).

That sounds right to me. except for the first part about PCC and CrO3 I am pretty sure that CrO3 is strong and goes all the way to a carboxylic acid. I thought that only PCC and some other weird compound that I never see used were the only week oxidizing agents?
