can someone explain:
anemic patients have normal oxygen tension and reduced oxygen content
what's oxygen tension?

Hi there,
Oxygen tension is somewhat similar to the pO2 of oxygen in the blood and O2 content is the total content of O2 in blood. In anemic patients, since there will be reduced amounts of hemoglobin, the O2 tension will be the same (hemoglobin still binds to the required no.of O2 molecules) in blood but the total O2 content is decreased due to less available hemoglobin. Hope this helps u to get thinking in the right direction.
