Many of my prereqs have combined lecture and lab components. We get one combined grade for lecture + lab, but the transcript lists both the lecture and the lab section. The lecture is 4 credits, lab 0. So far, so good.

Now, AACOMAS requires us to put a grade next to all entries listed on the transcript. But because labs are 0 credits, my transcript doesn't have a grade next to any of the lab sections (lab grades and credits are integrated into the lecture). As a result, I have to put a P (for pass) next to each of my 0-credit lab sections.

Will medical schools erroneously assume that I took my prereq labs on a P/F basis? The P that I entered is to solely satisfy AACOMAS' format requirements; I did not take anything under a P/F system. I assume that others have similar issues.

btw, my AACOMAS has been verified! woohoo!

I don't think they'll make that mistake, but if you're concerned it wouldn't hurt to call AACOMAS ((301)968-4190). From what I hear they're pretty willing to answer your questions.

Can you not put 0 hours next to the lab?

I'd guess this would fall under the same guidelines that I've contacted AACOMAS about in regards to grade replacements.

Basically, if you have a 4-hour class (3-hour lec + 1-hour lab) that you receive let's say an A in, AACOMAS will still split it up into two grades when calculating your GPA.

So it'll be recorded as a 3-hour A and a 1-hour A -- which still calculates the same as a 4-hour A. Hope that makes sense.

My app has already been verified, and the way I entered on AACOMAS remained the same.

lecture has 4 credits and a grade, lab has 0 credit and a grade of "pass".

Many of my prerequistes are 4 hour lecture and 0 hour lab. The lecture grade and credit includes the lab grade and credit. But because 0 credit appears on my transcript, i had to enter Pass for lab grade. AACOMAS explicitly told me this.

Okay, well trust they know what they're doing. In the end, if your numbers don't look right to you, you can question it then.
You can always contact them again to see how it will be calculated for sure.

The ONLY reason I had to enter P for lab sections is because of format requirements of AACOMAS.

I hope medical schools will understand. AACOMAS has already verified my app, so it is what it is.

I really don't think they're going to delve into the reason why it says P/F on your lab courses. I'm sure there have been people in your situation in the past. If you're really that concerned, then you can bring it up if you happen to get a rejection or during your interview if you get an ii.
