Im taking spanish 101 first session this summer and 102 next session.

however, since it is the middle of summer, my work ethic is shot and i have little to no motivation to get good grades. if i do pass/fail for both summer school sessions for spanish, will it look bad? (BTW im doing this at a CC so i really do not know what to expect from the teacher grading wise)

Wow.

If your motivation is so low, then don't take the courses. Given that the courses are not prerequisites for medical schools, taking them Pass/Fail won't be a problem -- as long as you Pass them both. I think you run the risk of raising eyebrows if you fail a P/F course at a CC during the summer when you didn't have any other courses demanding your time.

Go find your motivation. You're a pre-med, for God's sake.

except im working full time, something i dont do during the year, and volunteer four hours a week at a hospital.

and im more motivated to learn the language than get the grades at this point with spanish, and knowing my past high school history, im the kind of person who doesnt do well on foreign language exams.(French)

Boo hoo. I worked 48 hours a week at night through undergrad, graduate school, and post-bac. I'm just telling you how it is. Get a P and you should be fine.

I think you'll be ok. I was thinking along the same line as you. I also took P/NP for one of my Spanish classes. I was getting an A but it was a Pass on transcript. Oh well! Everything turned out fine for me. Don't stress out too much.

P/F courses don't hurt you unless it is in a pre-req. No worries! You may want to shadow an MD or something for a little more motivation. It has helped me in the past. Good luck!

I don't want to be as mean as the last guy, but....well.... you might shoulda thought about some of those things before taking the class if you are worried about listing it as P/F.

P/F shouldn't be too big of a deal, given that you pass and the course is not a pre-req. But I wouldn't make a habit of it. I don't remember how P/F courses affect your AMCAS GPA, though.
