I'm in the final stretch of pharmacy school and feeling like I'm hitting a wall in a major way. Hopefully this was all worth it... I've have a pretty good line on a couple of jobs, but this year is looking like an even worse job market then previous years. It will be interesting to see what the next couple years will be like for new grads. Any advise on how to stay focused these last few months?

What state do you live in, if you don't want to tell us what school...

Why are u burnt out? I'd take a week or two off to recharge... You are going to be faced with what some describe as their biggest academic challenge: board exams... most study for a month or so, some more and some less...

Gl studying!

This is not a trend that is going to reverse anytime soon.

If you think you are burned out now, just wait until you start working. It took me six months before I was comfortable to be by myself in the hospital.

In a much better market, I felt just like you toward the end. A couple of things:

1. Yes, there's boards, but I'd recommend that you take your downtime to start getting reintegrated back into American life (except illicit drug use!). You've given up a lot to get where you are, and it'll be jarring to go from this free work misery to being enslaved to debt payments for the next decade. Make time for one recovery activity.

2. As gwarm said, it actually gets worse before it gets better, I'd honestly would ease off outside work as you get nearer to graduation, but remember to save the amount necessary to start the boards.

I was burnt out too. This is what I did so I'm not sure it applies to everyone:

Try to take at least one vacation or mini vacation if possible either right before or right after boards. I took a vacation the week before my boards and I felt much more relaxed as a result. Whatever it takes for you to reset and focus, do it.

You should be excited you are almost a pharmacist. When I was a student, each time I jumped up a year, I felt proud and imagined all those newbies p1's in school who dont know anything 🙂

I remember feeling the same way last year: I thought my last couple rotations were pretty boring, I had just started reading the 1,000+ page Rx Prep book... motivation was completely fizzled out. Trust me, it gets better once you leave academia and enter the actual work force.

Going through this as we speak. I lose interest in pharmacy the longer I stay in school.

I have 3 rotations left. At this moment, I honestly just want to sit on my comfy chair for 3 months and study for boards.

I feel this way, probably worse, and I'm a P2... 🙁
