I am a current undergraduate senior at a highly reputable state research university. I will be taking a gap year off to hopefully do some working to save money for a volunteer trip to Africa or Southeast Asia where I will hopefully teach english and travel, so I will not be applying untill Summer of 2013.

Stats:

Psychology Major, Chemistry minor
sGPA 3.49 (expected to go up with one or two more science classes
cGPA 3.695 (again expected to go up)
MCAT: 34O

Clinical:

about 80-100 hours of clinical volunteering in a local hospital
about 24 hours shadowing local surgeons and other specialists

Non-clinical

Fraternity (almost 100 members) Judical Chair 2011-2012
Fraternity Vice President 2012-2013
Student Government Board Judical Chairman 2011
Member ACS student affiliates
Research in a developmental psychology lab where I am leading my own research
Lots of volunteer hours ( probably 50+) through the Fraternity
I have also held down a job in the department of epidemiology for the past 2 years working around 15 hours a week during the school year, and 40 during the summer

I was looking to apply to the following:

NYU
Pitt
Penn
Colombia
Mt. Sinai
Einstein
UVA
Drexel
Temple
Jefferson
Hershey
GWU
Georgetown
Maryland

Any thoughts? Am I shooting too high? Or should I be alright with the Philadelphia schools (minus penn)

Save Penn and Pitt, your stats are on par for the rest of the schools in PA. The NYC schools will all be difficult unfortunately, but not outside the realm of possibility. It will come down to how interesting adcoms view your EC's. I highly recommend updating adcoms on your activities during gap year.
