If you are a Physician Assistant, would it be safe to assume that you meet the prereqs for med school? My hubby is in the middle of PA school through the Army, and is interested in going MD in about 2-3 years. Once he holds his PA degree, would he have met the requirements for med school admission?
Any help would be appreciated
Thank you
Crystal

pa school prereqs vary by program so this is not a definite fit. for med school the minimum is 1 year each of biology/chemistry/organic chemistry/ physics, all with with labs.
some want more like math, biochem, etc but this is the absolute minimum. good luck

Hey emedpa do you have an email address I could write you to? I tried to PM you, but I saw you didnt have a PM box..

Yes, it's interesting that even when a university has both a medical school and a PA school, the prerequisites for both may be different. Just having the prerequisites for medical school done isn't enough to get into the PA program, and visa versa.

Best to look into the specific school(s) you want to get into, and plan accordingly.

Remember that PA and MD may have similarities, but are really two different career paths. (NP even more so.)
