What's the deal with PA Schools favoring in-state students?
Almost all state PA Schools say that they favor in-state students in the admissions process. Private schools say the same thing, although sometimes they say "region" intead of "state."
I know that with some schools, this favor granted is only slight--While other schools (like LSU) only accept out-of-state students if all of their slots aren't filled by qualified in-state applicants (which is practially never).
Sucks for us out here in the Pacific Northwest, with only 3 schools (UW/MEDEX, Pacific and OHSU) that are all extremely hard to get into, even for in-state/region applicants.
Any suggestions for a Washington state resident such as myself? I'm having a hard time discerning between those schools who favor in-state students but still give out-of-staters a shot, and those who virtually snub out-of-state applicants.
I don't mind moving across the country (or hey, even out of the country completely)! I just don't want to waste my time and money applying to a school that I have zero chane of getting into.
Any suggestions?
