Never studied for anything harder in my life. In fact, it was my life for 2 1/2 months. Guess it is paying off now. Good luck to you.

Ahhh you sucker! I'm jealous man! Congrats! I love UoP

that's awesome! congrats, hopefully i will get a call from them as well 🙂

Congratulations

I assume you misspoke and meant our director of admissions, Kathy. There is no female dean at our school.

Indeed. I am assuming she will take over that role soon however.

Pacific sucks. Have fun slaving your ass off with no life in ****ty ass Stockton for 3 years. 😀

I was at your point 1 year ago and it feels like many years have gone by since then.

Enjoy it! And you should like Pacific. Everyone puts on super smiley faces during your interview so you don't see how hard we actually work just to keep from failing.

 Don't mind Wizzie, he's just cranky because he has sworn off alcohol till boards.

When you interview, talk to any students you see around. They will tell you what they really think. We do work super hard, especially the 1st years since we start lab work right away rather than in the 2nd year like most schools, but people are pretty content here, it seems.

Congrats and we'll see you in the fall. Let us know when you are coming (any of you), and feel free to PM me if you guys have any questions. Now back to anatomy...

Wizziefiend is a whinywhinywhinerwhiner but we do have to work really hard to keep afloat, especially in dental classes. You know you're at Pacific when you get a C on a project and not only are you in the top 15% of the class, you do an endzone dance and thank the gods.

Agree with pine though. When you guys find out when you're coming you just let us know and we'll roll out the red carpet.

C = [C]linically acceptable = Good enough for me...let's go to happy hour!

Happy for you and all but I think that the title of your thread is stupid considering what the post actually was.....Misleading. When you get a date for that interview let us know. I hope it happens.

Whatever. It qualifies. I was told before the official date that I had an interview. And with UoP, if you have an interview, you are pretty much in. So congrats SoCal. Lingual's just bitter, despite the "happy for you." Don't worry Lingual, your time will come.

This MIGHT be a drunk post...but congrats SoCal you are in already, just as Pine so eloquently put it.

Just curious, but why is that?
Does Pacific interview an exceptionally few number of people? ...I kind of have Pacific dreams at night, lol.

I think they interview a fair number, probably less on average than most schools.

They really know what they're looking for I guess, since everyone who interviews gets accepted unless you fall asleep during it or something.

Nobody else got to see it but right underneath this post their was an add that said "Need more sleep?" and some website to some drug company...it was ironic...and funny. Oh, and by the way I'm not bitter pine. I was just suggesting a more descriptive title to the post so that the first words inside aren't "well kinda" to correct a mislabel. I find this is a problem with a lot of threads. Let's let this go though. Who cares? Seriously. All of our times will come hopefully.

Sorry you thought it was misleading there Lingual. My appologies.
I sure hope that means that I am in. It has sort of been my dream to go to Pacific since I was a kid. My dad graduated valedictorian from Pacific in 87 and has all the school pride you could ever imagine. Since then 5 uncles/cousins have also attended and all speak VERY highly of Pacific. Can't wait to get the official interview phone call. Thanks.

Ah ha... now the real truth of the reason of getting an interview comes out!!

Do you think my stats are not good enough? :scared:

Your stats are fine for getting into Pacific with or without your family heritage there. The number of people in our class with family who went to pacific is only 10% or so which isn't outrageously uncommon for most private schools. But the family lineage at our school does help you a bit more than someone without any family who went to dental school and/or Pacific.

And to clarify a point Armor and Pine made. Not everyone who interviews at Pacific gets in or is "pretty much in" That distinction is pretty much true of the EARLY interviewees. Pacific does interview a pretty average number of people (most schools interview about 2-3 times their class size). The key is that if you have an early interview at Pacific (pre-december 1st) you have something like a 96% chance of getting accepted based on previous statistics on those interviewees. This is, as Armor pointed out, cause Pacific knows what it wants and tries to get those people in for interviews to see if they were right...and they usually feel they are, so they take you.

For people after Dec. 1st, it's not like you have no chance of getting into Pacific, but the % of people from the post Dec. 1st interview groups begins to taper off more and more. But again, it's not impossible. My roommate had a Feb. Interview and is in our class. I know for sure my good friend had an interview in later February and also got into my class. But, the vast majority of our class are students who had interviews before Dec. 1st. There are more than a few people in class who see every single student from their Pre-December 1st interview group in our class this year.

So the fact that she said I would be part of the first interview group is a good thing.😀 Thanks djeff

Jeff's right, it's all about the pre-dec. interviews.

Last year they said that for the '06 cycle they interviewed about 200 students for 143 spots. Almost everyone who interviewed was accepted, and most chose to attend.

They do like legacy applicants, but Pacific cares most about DAT scores, which you rocked. Good job.

Djeff is right, after Dec. 1 you're probably interviewing for the waitlist (People do get in off of it though, like my absolute favorite engineer career switcher at out school <3)

Haha. So even if you C you way through pacific which means your somewhere in the 15% percentile you have a good chance in specializing afterwards?

hey, i interviewed january 25th (not for waitlist) and there are 8/10 people from my interview group here at pacific... =P

early congrats tho, socal. =) just make sure you don't fall asleep at the interview or do something incredibly rude. =P

okay back to biochem and gross anatomy.

I'm right there with you. I don't want to set my expectations too high but it is the only school I really worry about getting into because I want it so badly. Hopefully, this time next year we'll be studying together and we'll both get that interview call here soon!
