For those that are interviewing at pacific on the 10th of Feb, what hotel are all of you staying at, for those coming from long distances, like me coming from the east coast (which one is cheapest and closest to uni) Also, what's the best and cheapest and fastest way (bus, train, taxi etc) to get to a hotel that's cheapest and closest to the school from the Portland airport?

It's not exactly cheap, but for my interview I stayed at the Marriott Spring Hill. I paid ~$98 (with tax and all), but it was well worth it.

First, in the morning they have a complimentary breakfast (eggs, toast, make your own waffles etc). The hotel also has a complimentary shuttle service that can take you anywhere within the 5 mile radius of the hotel. The hotel was able to take me to my interview, pick me up afterwards (with my luggage) and drop me off the MAX (light rail). From there, I took the MAX to the airport. The hotel made everything very convenient and easy (just let them know ahead of time about the shuttle service so that they can put you down their shuttle itinerary).

Good luck next week!

For me I have to stay there for a couple of days. What's there to do in Hillsboro or even Portland. What are some nice places to check out during the night? How's the area overall?

If you checkout the pacific thread that has been going for long time, it has lots of info about the area and hotels and such. But for night life in hillsboro, there isn' any. You go into Portland.

I didn't really explore Hillsboro, but the day before the interview and right after the interview, I visited several places that were all along the MAX:

-the Oregon Zoo (Washington Park stop on MAX)
-Chinese Garden (Oldtown/Chinatown stop on MAX)
-downtown Portland, (there's bunches of stops for this...)
-Lloyd Center Mall (Lloyd Center stop on MAX)<~~ indoor iceskate rink

I was told by a fellow interviewee that Old Town/Chinatown has several clubs that are pretty good. I didn't go though!

I am interviewing on the 10th. That night I plan to go to Portland and find some live music...Tim Reynolds is playing at a little night club----I fly out the following afternoon back to Iowa.

If I had time I would ride at Mt. Hood~~~That would be nice-
