Why so few spots for peds surg?
As I asked once, a previous poster responded. One word greed.
People, don't want competition, control over their territory.
I really like Peds, but I personally feel, you need at least 1 or even 2 fellowships prior to even applying to peds.
a back-door way to get in- some of these spots (my friend did this) will take you for a research year and then "match" you through the fellowship.
Kind of surprising that being a US grad really doesn't give you that much of an advantage.
60% US grads matched vs. 50% foreign grads
It is pretty competitive, but those are my kind of odds (and they seem much better than 5-10 years ago).
Think I'll try and bluff my way in... At least there is one more seat at the table now (Vandy).
Thats not too bad 2 applicants for each spot.
What system does Surg Onc and Plastics use. I could find their match stats in the NRMP previously posted
