It's been interesting to see the public outcry and the rallying behind nurses after what that state senator said about nurses playing cards etc. I wish physicians/anesthesiologists had that sort of power and influence. One statement by a state senator (albeit a silly and not necessarily an accurate one) and the nation goes into a tizzy. But crazy statements get made all the time by congress folks equating midlevels (at the behest of their lobbying groups) with physicians and no one bats an eye. It seems that if truth is on our side, we should be able to wield an immense amount of influence. What gives?

What is it about only getting flak when you're over the target?

We are also working class. The difference is that nurses are unionized and union members react to being bashed.
