So far this one concern just hit me and no I am not in this situation... and yea, I'm getting far ahead of myself but by no means am I stating that I will be accepted this cycle. This is purely out of curiosity.

Some DO schools require you to pay a non-refundable deposit to reserve your seat BUT let's say you pay the downpayment and here comes an MD school (that you really wanted to get in) after the DO downpayment date and offers you a seat. I understand that downpayment will be considered "donation" but how would you go about telling admissions that you want to rescind your reserved seat?

Yea, I figured. I think it's more so the feeling of letting down the admissions committee that scouted the individual in the first place, only to have to look for another person to fill the seat.

They are used to it. All of us are. They just had the sense to charge a deposit...
