My program has a mandatory 2 week orientation that will be paid. When I asked, there is apparently going to be an hourly compensation of around $24/hour. Does anyone know if this is subject to tax? I don’t know much about taxes but since this is separate from the yearly stipend, will it be treated any different?

Yes it will be taxed. So will your regular residency pay.
