Pain board results

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Check the ABA website. Finally there is the result......after 21/2 months waiting.

No results for me yet. Maybe b/c I'm PM&R?

It is about time....positive outcome! Thank goodness don't have to take that for ten years...best to everyone!

I do have an ABA and a ABPMR login but nothing at either. If anyone else is PMR/Pain let me know if you also can't view results or if they are up for you and which web site (ABA or ABPMR). In the meantime I'll be paranoid and assume the worst...🙂

I am Neurologist and as in your case still waiting for the ABPN to publish the grades

PMR/Pain board results just came out now...FYI

Certified now. Thank God ! No more exam for 10 years

PASSED. Thank god I don't have to take another horrible exam like this for 10 years!

Hmm.. was it worse than your primary specialty written board exam?

I would definitely say it was worse than my primary specialty exam because nothing I studied was on the exam. I would have thought Dannemiller would have been able to at least get me half of the answers. Thank God I passed and it is over.

ditto

So in retrospect, what would you all recommend studying? I don't want to shell out big money to Miller if it doesn't help at all.

I do not think there is one single go to or slam dunk resource. Just like my primary specialty boards there are many questions you remember and go home and try to find the answer in every book you own and you cannot.

The minimalist approach: read during fellowship and use painexam.com

The more intensive approach: the above plus Dannemiller.

I did the latter. I bought the Dannemiller CDs and handouts, did not go to the course in Chicago. I studied on my own time after clinic hours and 1/2 days on weekends for about 6-8 weeks before the test. I made it through most of Dannemiller. I also used my Dragon software to create a word document of high yield, testable items that I added to as I went through Dannemiller and painexam--just left my headset on as I studied.

Of course I cannot reveal details about the test but it seemed like it only tested my weaknesses, none of my strengths. It shattered my brain. I was convinced I failed (which made the 3 month wait for results a lot of fun) but actually did v. well. I understand this is somewhat typical.

May the force be with you 🙂

Oh, I also bought the paperback board question book which was rife with errors and typos, which now lives on the back of my toilet, a proper location.

I will be selling my Dannemiller and notes, but I need to get everything organized first. Dannemiller is actually v. cheap for the quality and CMEs so don't feel like you have to buy used.

Sorry to copy but it has been already stated best and I strongly agree with the following:

The only other thing I would add from a personal standpoint is that even though I don't think studying really helped a great deal, I think it was necessary just the get myself "geared up" and in the right frame of mind for the exam. Without studying I probably would have freaked out, thinking "why didn't you study!" repeating over and over and distracting me from concentrating on horrible task at hand 🙂
