Hi,

After completing which residency( PMR or Neuro) Would i have more chances getting into Pain Fellowship.

I read that PMR usually have more chances than neuro but my preference would be to do neuro residency coz its more recognised worldwide compared to PMR which is not very common in some countries but can switch around for pain, if i do few pain electives while in residency and show some dedication towards pain would it be possilbe even after neuro.

Any info would be appreciated or any personal experience.

Best chance is to do an Anesthesia residency, majority of programs are Anesthesia based.

What do you mean by, neuro is more recognized than PMR?? You should select a residency by what interests you not by the world perception of the specialty. Are planning on practicing outside the U.S?

Highest chance - anesthesia
2nd - PM&R
3rd - all others
