Hey all, I was just thinking about something and I'm wondering what my best options are. I have a pair of c's. One in gen chem and one in physics. I'm getting ready to apply this summer and I was wondering if you guys think it'd be best to retake the classes during the summer? I'm at the University of Miami and I'm not totally sure that were allowed to retake C's. Do most uni's allow this? Thanks for the help!

I got C's in gen chem and physics also - although I can honestly say it was due to a lack of effort. And, this occurred early in undergrad (fresh and soph years?). If you have taken the MCAT, then this could be a problem. I did very well on the PS section of the MCAT, so that kind of offset my poor grades from early in college. I would probably think about retaking. However, if you retake, do NOT get less than an A.

Eh... back in my irresponsible days, I took Organic Chem I twice... and got a D+ and C+. Oddly, I took Organic Chem II after that D+ and got a B+. I'm holding onto 3 allopathic acceptances now. Of course, the rest of your academic record should be up to par, with a strong MCAT score to boot. In this case, I think I was able to convince a couple adcoms that my Organic Chem I record was not who I am now. If I had to do it over again, I would not have taken Organic in the summer while working full-time. However, I would obviously recommend that you do not get these below B- grades in the first place, makes life much easier 😳
