I bought a Treo a week before I started residency and haven't looked back since. I've had various PDAs before this, including two different Palms and a PocketPC, but I like the Treo best - I already carry my pager and sometimes a trauma phone on my waistband, and don't want another separate device (from my cell phone).
Treo 700p - the way to go. I am getting one in a couple days!

I've owned Palms and PPCs and much prefer the Pocket PC. I've been waiting for this badboy to arrive but it's locked into the Cingular network.
treos are cool, but i could never hold something so big to my ear, lol...so i still keep my phone and PDA separate. i love my palm TX...get a TE if you don't need wifi. i'd recommend the T5, but i heard it crashes a lot? dunno.

I use the treo at work but I do agree about the size thing. I use one of the bluetooth earpieces and its fine that way. I have a regular cell as well thats on the same plan that i take when i go out and stuff so I dont have to carry the treo.
For those people more informed with such technical details, is it worth the extra cost for the new 700p?? It seems that there aren't any significant upgrades from the 650 to 700 so that a 650 may suffice for my needs. Any opinions or comments would be appreciated.

The main difference is that the 700p runs on EVDO, which is a significantly faster network. It runs at broadband speeds, and you can actually use your phone to work as very fast modem.
It also comes with a little more internal memory, and it can address larger memory cards (2GB and higher). Processor is the same, OS is basically the same.
I went with the 700p for the EVDO network. If you are trying to save $, and you dont need this network access, i think the 650 would be just fine.
Hi Gasemdee,
thanks so much for the quick reply which was very concise and helpful. I am now definitely convinced to go with the 700p as the main reason for getting the treo is the wireless internet. The faster is certainly the better. Thanks for pointing it out. 👍

Yeah, its a nice network. You can watch TV, get sirirus radio, and get all sorts of other content at decent quality and speed. Just keep in mind, that when you are surfing the web on the treo itself, it won't be snappy. This is a function of the slow browser and processor, rather than the network itself. Also, keep in mind that the new phone will require a power vision subscription that costs $15 extra a month. Look into the service plans carefully to make sure you are willing to spend the extra $ for the extra service.
Overall, can't go wrong with it. The phone is expensive, and so you likely will be keeping it for a while. Might as well get the one with the longer life expectancy (faster network).

Dang! Too bad the 700 is not usable with Cingular.
