Hey! Been a while since I have been on here, but I have a question regarding a lit review/theoretical paper I am thinking about writing.

So I have an interesting paper idea that I would like to do as an undergraduate. The bad thing is that I may not be able to get a professor at my school to help supervise/review/revise/edit my paper as I am writing (I am currently working with a professor at my school, but she is unable to make any extra commitments).

I was wondering if it would be appropriate to contact a professor outside of my school (at another school) and see if they would be interested? This would mean I would not have any face-face time, but rather it would all be through e-mail (which can be hurtful in a few ways). I am not worried about the contact another professor part, but the outside of my school part may be "unacceptable", but I am not sure if it is. If you can help me out, that would be great!

I did something similar. I worked on a paper with a faculty member from a different school, but I had spent a summer working with that professor, so that was my in.

I am not sure, I think maybe that it depends on how close a relationship that you have with this professor, or professors, from another school. I think that if you get in touch with one, they may be able to advise you on the direction to take in the future.

It's do-able, I think.
