Hey folks,
Have a friend who needs to run some Windows-only stats software on a Mac.

In the spirit of saving money, are there alternatives to Parallels? I seem to remember someone running Windows alongside Macs using some kind of freeware, but I could be wrong (its possible I'm thinking of a Linux system).

Thanks!

Any opinions of the other programs (VMWare Fushion, iEmulator, etc.)?

i use VMware - i'm very happy with it - stable, fast, & easy to use.

My only gripe is that if you turn on access to the optical drive in vmware, OS X no longer can no longer see the drive.... i'm not sure if parallels does this better???

Otherwise switching back and forward between windows and OS X is flawless.
