hey guys, I know several medics asking me about these programs. I think it is a great idea considering the nursing shortage in this country. any one know of these or had experience?

There are a couple that I know of in Southwest GA (both at community colleges). The one where I work is a 3-1/2 semester program. Both are incredibly intense with a very high attrition rate.

If you're already a paramedic, mid-level/med school is the next logical step (Unless your fair-to-midlan, and not making a whole lot of clinical decisions). If it's solely a money issue, then RN may make sense.

The paramedics I know in our paramedic-RN bridge program, have been practicing as paramedics for 5-15 years and want to get off the trucks. Most have families with young kids, so moving to another town for PA/MD school is out of the question. Here, we have this bridge, BSN, and FNP school in the same town, so they can get to midlevel (NP) without having to move 150 miles away (closest MD or PA school). So, it is not necessarily a case of being mediocre, but of finances and moving families.
