Paranoid... How will IA affect my chances

So, I just realized that I do I have an IA from my freshman year of college. Basically , I went to a party , got very intoxicated and my friends took me to the hospital which I had to stay overnight. One of my roommate who was also very drunk went back to our dorm rooms and apparently was telling everyone how drunk I was and was sent to the hospital. Long story short the RA overheard my roommate and reported me to dean. I was charged with underaged drinking on campus even though I never stepped foot on campus drunk. I had to go to alcohol awareness class, pay a fee and attend mandated counseling. Since the incident I have not got in trouble again, but completely forgot about it until now. How will this IA affect my chances.

I think you should be fine. Just explain the situation on your application. Alcohol student conduct violations do not seem to be a huge deal from what I have read especially since you have not had another IA.

Check with the institution about what sanction you actually received. If it was a warning, you don't even need to report it. Were you put on probation or anything like that? That's what you would need to report.

Protip: don't focus on (or even mention) the "I never set foot on campus drunk" part. It's completely irrelevant to the fact that you drank yourself into the hospital and got caught by your RA, and it makes it sound like you're mitigating your IA and not taking full responsibility.

Definitely won't add that part. Just thinking about the incident made me bitter again lol.

I think I was put on probation until I completed those tasks. But yeah it was definitely a student conduct violation.
