I graduated last year, and I submitted my primary application in early June, with all my transcripts. Here's my issue: I have a few upaid parking tickets, which somehow the school forgot about when they released my transcripts to AMCAS. So, my primary app is in and done, great. However, I know that if I ask for transcripts again they will not realease them until I pay their exorbitant fines, which I'm not willing to do.

Does anyone know if adcoms will ask for final transcripts, that is, if I'm accepted, even though I have graduated and the transcripts they have are final?

Pony up the fines, dude. You've got no choice. Your MD school will require official transcripts even after you've been accepted. Besides, you wouldn't have the fines if you hadn't illegally parked.

Whenever you dont pay a ticket its just a matter of time before it catches up to you. It caught up to you. Suck but every med school I know of wants official transcripts..its part of accreditation for the school.

and FYI to the poster above...DO schools want em too.

Yes, if you are accepted your school will want transcripts directly from your undergrad. The grades they get from AMCAS do not include the actual official transcript, and they'll want the official transcript for their records.

It doesn't matter how ridiculous you think the parking tickets are, you need transcripts and are going to have to get them. Anyway, expecting that you'll NEVER need transcripts again is silly.

I think you're in the clear, OP. Schools typically ask for final transcrips to ensure you didn't get all F's or something in your last semester or two before you matriculte. This would depend on the school, of course. Just don't expect to ever be able to gain access to your transcripts again if you don't pay those fines.

lol...OP, you did the crime, now do the time and pay up those tickets. Seriously... it's not worth it. You're going to need those transcripts at various times in your career.

I just thought of Jim Carrey from Liar Liar.

the final transcript needs to show you receiving your B.S. degree. for example, I submitted to AMCAS my transcript in July a month after I had already graduated in June. Therefore, it had every single class I took and the grade I received from them. However, I still had to send another transcript b/c they didn't note my degree in my transcript until September. This is important b/c virtually all acceptances are made under the condition that you finish your degree. However, it's not something you have to deal with now. You can just wait and see for yourself after you get an acceptance and the terms for holding it....

so YES you need to pay off those tickets.

On a side note, have you looked into the possibility of the school sending your fines to a collection agency?

You'll need to send transcripts again if you are accepted somewhere. AMCAS does not forward transcripts.

I hear most schools perform an unpaid parking ticket specific background check 😱

sucks d00d

No way, stick it to the MAN 👍

I actually work for a company with parking enforcement. For all that I've seen, the ticket outlines how you can dispute the ticket, usually within a timeframe. For my company, you have 21 days to send in a dispute.

We will void your ticket for just about anything that seems plausable. Saying that your car was overheating so you pulled into the first spot available, went to a store to get water, and then came back and had a ticket.

However, your tickets would now be "delinquent". You can probably not dispute the ticket and it WILL be sent to a collections agency. It will then be reported on your credit as will as the witholding of your transcripts.

Except OP clearly said he was applying with AMCAS so the poster limiting his response to MD school had no underlying meaning that you seem to be looking for.
