Average Score: 94

Cumulative Study Hours:/Months: 3.5 (august mid to november end)

Recommended Studying materials: decks, papers, kaplan

Most Difficult Section: all- i couldnt predict which was worse!

Study Do's: do decks and papers well....i did the dental decks twice and revised the questions on the front once. papers once, some of them twice.
remember u need breaks too.
and study at ur individual pace. just coz something worked for me, it might not work for another.
set targets to study and aim to reach them. set realistic targets! like maybe biochem decks in 2weeks for the first time and physio in 2weeks etc. this is how i did it. i cannot study unless i set some deadlines for myself!!!

Study Don'ts: dont waste too much time on textbooks- u dont need to know A-Z of everything under the sun for this exam- just the basics

Other materials used( Books / Notes): little brown review book for biochem (thanks to "itsme" for suggesting this book!) since its a very volatile subject and we hardly did any biochem in college

Any thoughts on how you could have done better/ differently: i wasted 3weeks in november just before the exam coz i was ill....it couldnt be helped but if i could relive those days, maybe i would hope i dint fall ill 🙂 (in essence that makes my study time 2 months give or take a few days)

Study Timeline/Time table: studied 5-6 hrs a day max. some days even less. weekends i did not study at all since i just couldnt study that much! there are people who study 12 hrs a day and there are people who study 4hrs a day. find what works for u best....u cant suddenly change ur study habits - it might disrupt your rhythm.

Hi toothmail,
Congrats:clap: ..94 is a great acheivement..time to celebrate🙂 ..& thankyou for the suggestions on study plan..that was inspiring..
toothmail, can u tell me from where did u buy the little brown review book for biochem? did u do page by page in kaplan?😱

Thanks toothmail for sharing your experience with us.

i borrowed the little brown review book from the harvard library. u can buy it from amazon.com either used or new editions.

as for kaplan i dint do much of it at all. i just did dental anat and some biochem. i did not have time for all of kaplan anyways. its v detailed. maybe i would have done better if i did it but i dint!

Does this little, tiny ,small, pitete, brown book have a name???

yeah toothmail give the name of the little brownie

average part 1 score is 94

my experience with part 1 is different ,i started reading kaplan book cause i dident know about the existence of dental decks or SDN,i kept studying the book with its terrifying 1000 pages until i met some dentists who told me about the decks and how usefull its as a tuturing material,so when i started reviewing the decks i was already in touch with the material it contains because of my previous reviewing of kaplan book,i dident need a reference book or any other text book,so it took me less time to understand it and i dident suffer from forgetting its contents, iam not encouraging you of reviewing kaplan book because its really devastating with all the hard work and you wouldent be able to recall it,but i think it wouldent harm if you get a text book and read it as a novel, before sleeping to have at least an idea about whats going on,then you can rely on the decks, try to study continiously for the longest time you can everyday for few weeks which is more beneficial than studying intermittently for many months,to keep up your performance and the rhythem of gaining the info
review the decks and eat them (litteraly)
do the asda papers as more as you can and use them to assess your knowledge.

thats what its called guys! its called little brown review book! i have not made up a nickname for it!

Hi folks,
I agree with toothlord that theory does help.Reading the textbooks, even if you read it as a story book gives a good foundation for the dental decks .Because you need to remember all the decks!!
🙂

Hello

HI GUYS,
APART FROM DENTAL DECKS, QUESTION PAPERS ,
THERE IS A BOOK " RUDMAN'S QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS"
THAT I FOUND VERY USEFULL. ALTHOUGTH THIS BOOK CONTAINS A LOT OF QUESTIONS FROM THE ASDA RELEASED PARES, THERE ARE SOME QUESTIONS WHICH ARE UNIQUE, THIS BOOK IS VERY USEFULL TO GO THRU THE WEEK BEFORE OR THE DAY BEFORE EXAM. THIS BOOK HELPS US TO REFRESH ALL THE IMPORTANT QUESTIONS .

ANOTHER BOOK THAT I FOUND VERY USEFULL WAS :"REVIEW OF SCIENCE AND BASIC DENTISTRY BY JACK E WELLS"
I FOUND THE MATTER VERY BRIEF AND TO THE POINT."

WISH YOU ALL GOOD LUCK!
