Hi:

I just got home from my exam....really tired... I would say Anatomy was my strongest subject, lots of repeated q's....
Bio- Physio: I must confess I did not prepare for Bio as I should but thank God it was not that bad...I was really :scared: of getting lot of q's on enzyme and some other "dirty" stuff....but it was actually pretty do-able.... (hope I don't have any surprise later...😱 )
Physio was of moderate difficulty...some repeats, q's about parasymp. ganglia, jaw reflex, a table showing different % of CO2 and O2 and they asked wich one would affect most the respiratory centers, pat of nepron wich consumes more ATP, primary swallowing is...(I chose voluntary, don't remember the other options), dysplasia compared to carcinoma, first part of tooth to show calcification signs (cingulum?- incisal edge?), more keratinized papilla(filiform?), necrosis with soap formation?, necrosis in kidney?...content granules of mast cells......
Micro-path: Some repeats...tooth with pyogenic necrosis of pulp what m.o is there? (sorry, don't remember the right words), know gastric enzymes well...
DA: this was the HARDEST of all....Kaplan and decks are not enough...lots of q's on primary molars, lot of q's on lateral movements and the position of the condyle on the fossa.....NOT EVEN a single picture!!!! only pic was from a tooth and you had to ID the lamina dura......one q's about the posselt's but no picture, one q's about another type of envelope of motion (frontal?) and ID one of the points..........I wish I had prepared better for this section 🙁 it will for sure pull down my score.... only one or two q about time of eruption....
Well, I hope this helps....wish I can remember more but my brain is "burned"
The hardest part will be sitting still for 4 weeks to get the results!!!
Good luck to all of you taking the test soon....:luck: I am going to 😴

Good luck!! And you will get your results on the the 30 of this month or the second of October.

all the best.

pink tooth

hi elto i want to ask u a question about how long did u studied for nbde 1?is 2 months sufficient?
and can computerised nbde taken on any day of a month u wish for eg. if i wish to take it on 30th of dec .then?
please reply with advice

Thank you so much for your good wishes.... I am crossing my fingers and hoping that I don't have to retake...
About the computer test, I registered online and paid by credit card. They sent me a letter about one week later, I called the Prometric center phone number and scheduled the test. I had no problem, they scheduled me for the date I wanted (one week from the day I called)...I guess it depends on the place where you are taking your test, if it is busy or not....
The computer program is very user friendly, really easy to use, you can go back and forth within the SAME subject, and there is a clock on the corner of the screen that shows how much time is remaining... they give you 3 1/2 hours for anatomy and Bio-physio in the morning, at the end of that sesion if you have time you can review the answers that you have "marked" if you want...once you click end you can not go back....
You will have a one hour lunch break if you want to take it...I went, got a sandwich and return before the hour (watch the time!!! because once the hour is over the computer starts the clock by itself). What I did is that I came back before the time was up, sat down and write in my scratch paper the diagrams and eruption time tables for DA BEFORE I clicked in.......
the afternoon session starts with Micro-patho and then DA....I did not like that because DA is very time consuming and by that time of the day you are exhausted....👎 ....
Thanks again for the good vibes...I will let you know my score ( if its not to embarrasing 😀 ).
P.S They are not using the vignettes yet....

Hey Elto,

Thanks for the really useful information!!

Best Wishes for your results..

hi elto ,
thanks for your response now i have a clear concept about how to schedule the test
otherwise i was confused whether i can make it in dec or not
i am planning to take the nbde1 in the end of december and hope 3 months will be sufficient
regards,
alka

Thanks elto for all your help
wish you all the best for your results.

hi elto,

Good luck for your result. Just woner if you could do the dental anatomy before micro in the afternoon session? I know people could do that in PBT but I don't know about CBT.
thanks

Sorry I have been so busy that I have not had the time to check the forum lately....(after 5 years my parents are coming to the US to visit me and my family, so I am getting the house ready for them...🙂 )
Anyways...For those of you asking about the diagrams I was talking about the contacts, the eruption charts for perm and temp and the occlusion diagram.
Deepa, my last week was CRAZY!!! I was feeling overwhelmed and like I forgot everything!!! I just read my notes VERY fast trying to "refresh" my memory on every subject and believe me when I tell you that that quick revision REALLY helped!!!
At the end I am happy to announce that the hard effort paid off...I got my results today (as g3k told me...😉 ) and I got 93!!! Ana-91 🙂confused: ),
Bio-89, Micro-98, DA-94 (funny...as I though this would be my lowest score...)
I am really thankful to God and to the SDN community, especially Fixensmiles, Meggs, Stelon and Nile....you guys are a real treasure!!!
Good luck to all of you taking the test soon....although I will be very busy for about a month I will try to come and check how are all of you doing...:luck:

Hey Elto,

Heartiest Congratulations!!! ....gr8 score.. 🙂)

All the very best for admissions...

Hi elto,
Congrats on your wonderful score in NBDE part-1 and wish you good luck for your TOEFL...

Hi elto!!

What a wonderful score!!👍 I am also retaking Part I in November.

You really deserve it!!!!!!

hi elto,
u got a wonderful score and it wont be any difficult for u to get admission to a good dental school, all the best
i read your thread about toefl and i am also in the same situation but the new toefl is easier and u can score higher as i found out from my friends who took it so dont worry stay cool!

Hi....I studied Kaplan completely but I did not memorized everything on it...I think that is impossible since it is such heavy book...I read decks 2004 because I did not want to spend more money on the new ones and I would say that they are still good and have all the info that you need for the exam.QUOTE]

Hi elto, that is a great score, congratsssssssssssssssss 🙂
I think you are the first spanic girl who got such great score, you must be so proud of yourself. I dosnt matter what is your gpa, with that score is more than enough .
FOr sure you would have a place in any univessity you will aply to

Mittu: I am not an expert but I think in 6 weeks you can only read decks once (maybe twice if you hurry) and old papers....You will have like one week for each part of the test and about 2 weeks for old papers and a "quick" last minute revision...That is what I would do. Anyway, take it before the end of the year because it is going to change in January...

Thank you Eva, alka, mam and ndbe07 for your message, I am sorry I did not see your post before....I have been really busy with my parents here, I am kind of a "turist guide" now specially since they do not drive or speak any English...(I am really happy they are here but I have been so busy that my brand new TOEFL book is sitting in my desk with a thick layer of dust on top...🙁 )

Hey ELTO,
Heartiest Congrats,
U deserved it !!
Good Luck with your school applications and interviews.
Thanks for all you help.

Hi Stelon: I know you have been really busy...I hope you get good news soon. :luck: Thanks for your congrats... although right now I am feeling like 🙁 I had my ECE and it was 2.68 so I decided to get WES since everybody seems to get better GPA from them but I got the report today and it is the SAME!!! I am really disappointed...but I guess there is nothing I can do...

Check every University in which you are going to apply. Some of them need only ECE revaluation.
Good luck with your admission. Congratulation! You did so good with your exam!
