part time residencies?

i recently heard that this option is available for people w/small children, etc. i believe the info said that some places will allow you to do a residency that is 3 years in 4. anyone know about this or would be interested?

Part time positions are available. Try doing a search on FREIDA (http://www.ama-assn.org/ama/pub/category/2997.html) - using "optional criteria". Hope this helps.

FREIDA is your best bet, as well as calling programs you're interested in and asking (as info on FREIDA is not always correct).

Bear in mind that the availability of part-time residencies is MUCH greater in "female friendly" specialties - generally the Primary Care ones. Others (like Surgery) are much less forgiving, or may require you to find someone to share a position with.
