can you work part time as a neurologist/share jobs? or are you usually pretty busy and if you worked say 3 times a week how much would your pay be around? is there flexibility in the specialty.. eg for moms etc..

Yes. Half time = half pay, but benefits might be difficult. There is no flexibility during residency - same as everything else.

i mean after residency.. is neurology not a good choice for people who want flexibility with their job.. eg. md moms etc .. even im has locums and lot of part time jobs to choose from.. is neuro limited in the job availability and flexibility in comparison?

Part-time work is quite possible in neuro. There are many routes. You can register with a locum tenens agency to fill in for vacationing docs (in private practice, or in hospitals), you can apply for less-than full-time but regular positions at some hospitals/HMOs/civil service (with pro-rated benefits); or you can even try a less than full-time private referral based practice.

It helps to make yourself competitive. Board Certification will help with that. There aren't that many ABPN Certified neurologists (I think the worldwide number is around 10-12,000). It also helps to have subspecialty training (EMG/EEG, pain management, etc.). EMG is a particularly good field. The machines (including EEG capable ones) are portable and cheap enough to purchase, and the reimbursement rates for studies are quite good.
