Hello everyone, I am not sure if there has been something started on this or not, I searched but did not find anything specific.

My school is offering to change grades to pass/fail university wide. This is something students must apply for after final grades are submitted. I think it is an equity thing since many students may not have the necessary internet access at home to be successful in online classes, so the university is making this available even to the professional schools on campus.

What would be the benefits or hazards of doing this for veterinary classes? Can you foresee any problems with having a PASS rather than a letter grade on a transcript for a core class in vet school especially if you want to go on to an internship?

We have a thread for COVID impact on vet school over in pre-vet
There are schools that are always graded pass/fail and they still have people match for internships and residencies. My understanding is that the schools still would track your exam grades for those purposes, and they would be reflected in your class rank. A passing grade would have no effect on your GPA. I don't think any of us can really say how internships and residencies will look at those things in this particular scenario (having a mixture of letter grades and passing grades for core courses on a transcript), because it is unprecedented, and we aren't on those committees.
