Can someone give be the grading systems for the following schools? I'm trying to finalize decisions and I seem to have forgotten what the grading systems were. Is there a centralized list somewhere?

AECOM

Drexel

Georgetown

Harvard

NYMED

Robert Wood Johnson

Rochester

Tufts

UMASS

UPENN

Thanks!

Most schools have grades in the clinics. The reason schools have mostly switched from not having grades in the basic science years is because residency directors pretty much don't care how you do in your basic science years. Because it's the clinical grades and letters that really count, most schools keep them in order to establish rank in the class.

Wow, you rock for spending all that time organizing this list.

I don't think I see Columbia up there anywhere.

1st year is P/F
2nd year is H/P/F

Correction: MCW is Honors/High Pass/Pass/low pass/Fail. I know the op doesn't really care about MCW, but I gotta show support for my school!:D

mr red...dont worry about changing it...

the other poster prolly didnt understand the "or equivalent" part.

Are you discriminating against New York schools? Where's Cornell Weill? ;) (I don't know about its grading system though)

since your class rank matters for your deans letter, aoa and finally residency, does this whole P/F thing have any meaning??

I don't know about other schools, but the above list is wrong for UMass, at least. Years 1-2 are Honors/pass/fail; years 3-4 are outstanding/above expected/expected/below expected/fail.

I posted on this in a thread about UMass in the pre-allo forum.

Cornell's pass/fail I believe the first two years

Starting with my class (class of 2007), UVa is pass/fail for years 1 and 2, with the top 20% overall after the first two years receiving honors. 4th year is also p/f, with grades only in third year.

UPenn is P/F for the first 6 months, followed by H/P/F for the next year, and then followed by H/HP/P/LP/F for clinics.

just an interesting sidenote... when i was at upenn interviewing, someone asked the dean what the grading system was, and he honestly had no idea. his assistant had to step in and describe it.

Yeah, we have like 23894723984702374 deans and asst. deans for all sorts of things. The head dean doesn't get very involved with cirriculum. The deans that deal with cirriculum issues should know the grading system, because a contingent of students complain about the H/P/F every year.

Actually I believe Michigan has a P/F system the first year. The second year it switches to a A/B/C/D equivalent (high pass, pass...etc) grading system.

i prefer letter grades not pass fail or +/-

bzump. help please.

I was at Temple the other day, and the tour guides said they had an honors/pass/fail system, but that's not what the aamc site says. Can anyone verify this?

Other considerations go into AOA, I believe. Comments/written evaluations from teachers, evaluations during clinical rotations, board scores, etc. may all play a part.

thanks dr. reddly & leavesam! :)
