Pass/fail or keep grade?

I have a low C in Organic Chem and ~ 3.2 gpa.

I can't decide if I should pass/fail the class & retake it later ... or if I should just keep the C. Thoughts?

How would you get a C if you still had an option to pass/fail it?

They do. You can Pass/Fail it, so it does not hurt the GPA, but retake it later.

You may raise eyebrows if you take credit as P/F instead of A/F, and then retake the class.

Why on earth would you pass fail it. And, what would happen if you "didn't have time later."

Case 1:
You A/B/C the class and get a C. You retake it later and get an A.
Total GPA = 3.0

Case 2:
You P/F the class and get a P. You retake it later and get an A.
Total GPA = 4.0


Which would you prefer?
