I've never posted anything on this site before but I am today because a big part of me passing the naplex is reading through everyones feedback and advice. To give you an idea of my situation: I failed 3 times (66,74,66). The first time i failed I was on question 101 with 30 minutes to go (and at the time, the test was only 180 questions long). The second time I failed with a 74 and the 3rd time I didn't study really because I was so depressed and got another 66 (also didn't finish the exam again).
So all in all I was incredibly depressed for the last few months. I was with walgreens but after failing the second time they had to let me go.
The biggest challenge for me was money after failing because after they didn't let me work anymore...I didn't have a source of income and that really is one of the hardest things to get through. Between my parents/boyfriend I got through that and managed to take it again and well..PASS 🙂
I studied the first time for over 2 months but honestly dont think I went about it the right way. I had RXPREP and would get scores in like the low 60's and be content with that. I wasn't as well versed with the math (it wasn't hard but you still need to practice it over and over) and compounding i looked over briefly. The next 2 times I'd look over everything very quickly but made stupid mistakes on the test (for example: not asking for a handheld calculator or not reading the questions properly or just not thinking).
This last attempt....was probably the least amount of time i spent looking over everything. Instead of reading the book I went on quizlet and looked up flashcards for each chapter (i'd suggest typing in like 2016 or 2017 for more accurate sets) and then would take the test per chapter on RXPREP. While taking the test...I would copy and paste explanations to answers which i thought were most important. The 2 days before the exam I went over each chapters explanations as a refresher (probably the best thing I did this time i think). I also made flashcards for most of the chapters on the first page and then focused on disease states that were the most important.
Luckily for me on this test...there was ALOT on HIV and oncology and for me that was very easy because I know those chapters very well. Oncology was more on the BSA calculations (which i realized i had been doing wrong until this last attempt). There was a good amount of math but rxprep is enough to cover it...i made 95% or higher on each section multiple times before taking this test. Biostats for me is easy...so just going over it once or twice was enough. NO PK on this test..but I remember it being on the last 2. Compounding...was still hard but I think I guessed pretty well.
I was a very very average student in school...but never one that failed every class or something. Usually made B's and a C here or there. I do have a lot of experience working which i do think helps a lot for this test. All in all..dont lose hope...I almost did. To be completely honest I thought i bombed it the 4th time and refused to look at my score for a week because I didn't think I could take anymore failure.
I hope some of this helps anyone out there that is still struggling. If you have anymore specific questions just email me : [email protected].
