PAT - Cube Counting help

I was unclear about one aspect of cube counting and would appreciate if someone could clarify it.

Can two stacks of cubes be connected only by the corners or at least one cube from the stacks has to directly touch the other two face to face?

Any two cubes touching together must be doing so fully on one side of the cube (doesn't matter which side). If you look at some practice q's that's what your gonna see on the test.

Have you gone through Kaplan's BBB which will explain cube counting? Any exposed face is counted. If two cubes are touching by the corners, then their faces are not covered so you count them. If they are in side-by-side contact then you do not count those sides.

I know how cube counting works, but i was confused because in some questions, due to difficulty of the angle, you cannot really tell if there is a missing cube and you are seeing the face of the other cube or if there really is a cube there.

This same question came up during my Princeton PAT lecture but the proctor was unable to verify.

Those who have already taken the DAT, has there been any cube counting problems where one stack is touching another stack only at the CORNERS and not touching face to face?
