This question was on the Bootcamp PAT exam #6.
D is the correct answer....I'm saying HOW?!

In answer choice D, there is a long, thin rectangular piece on the medial side of the larger object. This piece is no where to be seen in the flattened object! Is it just my perception of the object that's skewed or am I just not getting it?

Any intake would be helpful, thanks!

That was a really tough one and it took me some time to figure it out, but here is how I look at it. Also don't try to match every part, I think just matching a few parts and eliminating answers works best. Hope it helps.

Woah... guess that's what I'm expecting for exam #6...

Nice job; I'd also like to say that the unfolded piece is zoomed out so everything looks smaller as compared to the folded piece.

Nice explanation, I did that first and got to D but then got confused as the pieces didnt match up so I switched my answer. Thank you

I see why you marked off C, but what was the reasoning behind A and B? Just now starting the PAT. Thanks.

P.S. Any tips for TFE? It has me puzzled

The best strategy I find to use on the pattern folding is to mark certain "landmark" features of the given object i.e. angle size, side length, or just find the unique shape in the pattern and try to match it up. Also don't forget to see which way the folded object in the answer choices are facing so that way you can mentally rotate the pattern in your head and see if it correctly lines up.

I also usually just look for unique shapes/pieces. Also, if some shapes are hard to rotate in your head, don't forget that you can "tear and paste pieces" to the other side, if that makes any sense.

A and B don't even match the yellow lines on the flattened one. For TFE check out the tutorials mentioned on Bootcamp. I'm not really good at it but that got me started, good luck 🙂
